Western Guilford suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: Western Guilford Hornets vs. Southeast Guilford Falcons

The Western Guilford Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Southeast Guilford by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Western Guilford has suffered yet this season.

Western Guilford lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Star Hughes, who scored 19 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. Leila Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Southeast Guilford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmin Riggs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophia Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals.

Western Guilford dropped their record down to 5-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Southeast Guilford, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
