Basketball Recap: Leelu Bare's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Skyline over Alta

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Skyline can now relate to. They fell 58-47 to the Alta Hawks on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leelu Bare, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Bare a new career-high in blocks (four). Mia Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Skyline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

It was another big night for Alia Baldassano, who went 10-for-16 en route to 26 points and five boards for Alta. Alta is 7-2 when Baldassano posts 15 or more points, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Kegel, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Alta, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alta, they have already played their next game, a 58-50 loss against Cedar Valley on the 20th.
