The Sam Houston Texans's 27-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Central on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Sam Houston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 952nd, while East Central is ranked 53rd).
Sam Houston's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being D'Marion Davis, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ja'meir Hayfort, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Sam Houston are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. As for East Central, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sam Houston will take on Mansfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mansfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. East Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on TMI-Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th.
