Basketball Recap: Mooseheart Takes a Loss

Mooseheart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Westlake Christian Academy Eagles, falling 62-40. The Red Ramblers were down 51-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Mooseheart saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Oluwatosin Isola dropped a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Isola has scored all season. Nishi Amos was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westlake Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Nieze, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. What's more, Nieze also posted a 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Johno Ledr, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 18 points.

Mooseheart's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Westlake Christian Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mooseheart will square off against Lisle at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mooseheart is facing Lisle at the right time seeing as Lisle is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Westlake Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cristo Rey St. Martin at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
