Basketball Recap: Curwensville Takes a Loss

Curwensville lost against Mount Union back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Curwensville Golden Tide fell 66-57 to the Mount Union Trojans.

Defeat or not, Curwensville got some senior leadership from Davis Fleming and Chandler English. Fleming posted 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, while English shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. The game was Fleming's 13th in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Curwensville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Curwensville's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Mount Union, their record is now 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Curwensville will host Juniata Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Juniata Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. Mount Union has already played their next game (against Tussey Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
