Preview: Welch Wildcats vs. Commerce Tigers
The Welch Wildcats and the Commerce Tigers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Welch is ranked 428th, while Commerce is ranked 450th).
Welch posted their biggest win yet this season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 55-32 margin over South Coffeyville.
Welch found their leader in underclassman Dakota Bidwell, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bidwell has scored all season. John Hardin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Commerce beat Quapaw 52-42 on Saturday.
Welch's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Commerce, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Welch was able to grind out a solid victory over Commerce in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, winning 45-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Welch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
