The PikeView Panthers will head out to square off against the Greenbrier East Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greenbrier East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on PikeView, who comes in off a win.
PikeView barely beat James Monroe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers didn't even let the Mavericks on the board on Wednesday, marking the Panthers' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Eli Hilling made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for PikeView: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Trenton Tolliver was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. PikeView is undefeated when Tolliver posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eli Naylor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
PikeView was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Monroe only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier East came up short against Sissonville on Saturday and fell 6-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Greenbrier East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Green, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
PikeView has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Greenbrier East, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. PikeView hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Greenbrier East struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
PikeView couldn't quite finish off Greenbrier East in their previous meeting back in April and fell 5-3. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
