Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Mooney Cougars vs. Out-of-Door Academy Thunder

For the second straight game, Cardinal Mooney will face off against Out-of-Door Academy. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cardinal Mooney 2.6, Out-of-Door Academy 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Cardinal Mooney is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Out-of-Door Academy, sneaking past 6-4. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jake Armstrong was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Armstrong wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Michael Geaglone, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another was Austin Shields, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cardinal Mooney hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Out-of-Door Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Cardinal Mooney, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.
