Recap: Crawfordsville Athenians vs. Speedway Sparkplugs
After flying high against the Frankfort Hot Dogs last Friday, The Crawfordsville Athenians came back down to earth. Crawfordsville was outmatched by Speedway on the road and fell 48-13.
Crawfordsville's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Mclemore, who picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Speedway was led to victory by Jazz Coleman and Connor Moreland. Coleman gained 174 total yards and two touchdowns, while Moreland threw for 264 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Cam Reich also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Crawfordsville's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for Speedway, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.
Crawfordsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Speedway will play host again and welcome Monrovia, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Monrovia's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
