Recap: Wendover Wildcats vs. Rich Rebels

After flying high against the Manila Mustangs on Friday, the Wendover Wildcats came back down to earth. Wendover received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 40-24 to Rich. Wendover has not had much luck with Rich recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Wendover saw an underclassman step up: Millie Hicks scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. Hicks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paulina Gomez, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Rich's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Haydee Pugmire led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Violett Taylor, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Rich, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Wendover and Wells will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wells' defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Wendover's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Rich, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Piney at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
