Baseball Recap: Notre Dame (SO) Comes Up Short

Notre Dame (SO) had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 12-13 to make it seven. They lost 11-3 to the Loyola Cubs. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cubs earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

Notre Dame (SO) saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dru Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Loyola, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-9 record. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Loyola's side, Jimmy Levy looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Levy posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Davis Bender was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since April 2nd. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Rapp, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

While Notre Dame (SO) had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
