Softball Game Preview: St. Pauls Bulldogs vs. Midway Raiders

For the second straight game, St. Pauls will face off against Midway. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pauls has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Pauls fell victim to Midway and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Raiders. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

For Midway's part, Kiley Ives was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Ives a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karabeth Benton, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Midway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pauls only managed one hit.

The win was the ninth in a row for Midway, bringing their record up to 15-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Pauls, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Pauls hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
