Baseball Recap: Avon Park Takes a Loss

Avon Park lost against Lake Wales back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Avon Park Red Devils fell just short of the Lake Wales Highlanders by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Avon Park saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Pollitt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Pollitt snagged this season.

Avon Park's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Lake Wales, their record now sits at 6-4.

Coming up, Avon Park will be taking part in a tournament against IMG Academy Blue at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Wales, they will be playing at home against Lake Region at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Region is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
