Baseball Game Preview: Festus Tigers vs. Farmington Knights

The Festus Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Farmington Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Festus 3.4, Farmington 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Festus came out on top against North County on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tigers walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Raiders. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Festus got a great performance from James Jackson as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Brady Nolen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Ijames, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Farmington and Valle Catholic, and Valle Catholic kept the tradition alive. The Knights fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Farmington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Tripp, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Festus, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6-1.

Festus came out on top in a nail-biter against Farmington in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
