Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Lehigh

The Gateway Eagles and the Lehigh Lightning will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Gateway was able to grind out a solid victory over Ida Baker, taking the game 5-3. Considering the Eagles' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Lehigh came into Friday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against East Lee County by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lightning's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

They hit East Lee County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anthony Berrios (2), Lens Dorlys, and Robert Cocom.

Lehigh's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-3.

Gateway beat Lehigh 4-2 when the teams last played back in January. Will Gateway repeat their success, or does Lehigh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
