Baseball Game Preview: Sevastopol Pioneers vs. Sturgeon Bay Clippers

Sevastopol hasn't had much luck against Sturgeon Bay recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pioneers will be playing at home against the Clippers at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Sevastopol is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Manitowoc Lutheran.

Logan Schuh was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Schuh was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Schuh wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Grooters, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Sturgeon Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Oconto by a score of 3-2.

Bryce Plzak made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Caleb Plzak was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Sturgeon Bay's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Sevastopol, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
