Softball Recap: Routt Catholic Comes Up Short

Routt Catholic extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They lost 20-1 to the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their win bumped their record up to 3-16. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's part, Addison Hopkins made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Hopkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Blackorby was a standout: she went 2-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Riley Holloway was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Routt Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-3 defeat against Griggsville-Perry on the 1st. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-7 victory against Riverton on the 1st.
