Perennial powers gain ground in this week's Lone Star State computer rankings.
Some familiar names in the Texas high school football landscape were among the biggest climbers in this week's computer rankings. Katy and Allen both moved up at least four spots following big wins while Lake Travis made a similar jump after a week off.
Katy (5-0) is playing the kind of defense head coach Gary Joseph likes as of late, beating Dickinson 49-7 on Friday. The Tigers, who check in at No. 4 this week, have allowed just 10 total points in their last three outings. Unbeaten Tompkins (5-0) is up next.
Rising four spots to No. 15, Allen (3-0) extended its regular season win streak to 78 games with a 42-9 victory over Boyd on Friday. A showdown with No. 6 Denton Guyer is two weeks away.
Lake Travis (4-0), which is averaging 63 points per game this season, elevated to No. 16 despite not playing. Sophomore quarterback Bo Edmundson has thrown for over 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns in the team's first four contests.
