Basketball Game Preview: Carbondale Terriers vs. Hamilton County Foxes

The Carbondale Terriers will take on the Hamilton County Foxes in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Hamilton County is facing Carbondale at the wrong time: Carbondale suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a blow against the Rams, falling 68-40. The contest marked the Terriers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hamilton County entered their tilt with Pinckneyville on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 54-43 win over the Panthers.

Hamilton County's win came from a few key players Carbondale will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rayci Phelps, who posted 17 points and four steals. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kylah Parkhill, who earned 11 points.

Hamilton County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Carbondale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
