Volleyball Recap: Natomas Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Natomas proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Rio Linda Knights 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Nighthawks, who have now won three matches in a row.

Natomas was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (103-101), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-10.

Marion Moreland paced Natomas' offense, picking up 18 kills. Moreland got some help from Josiah Xiong and his 27 assists. Moreland was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Natomas' win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Rio Linda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Natomas will host Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rio Linda, they will challenge Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rio Linda is facing Woodland at the right time seeing as Woodland is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
