Basketball Recap: KIPP Legacy Skates Past Tindley with Ease

It was a proper cat-fight when KIPP Legacy faced off against Tindley on Saturday. The KIPP Legacy Lions really took it to the Tindley Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-47 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 24 points or more this season.

KIPP Legacy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Mapp, who went 12 of 17 en route to 26 points. The contest was Mapp's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shalon Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 assists.

KIPP Legacy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tindley only racked up nine assists.

When it comes to explaining why Tindley lost, don't look at Henri Maye. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Maye a new career-high. Jeremiah Houston also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

KIPP Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Tindley, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

KIPP Legacy will head out on the road to square off against Victory College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. KIPP Legacy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Tindley has already played their next matchup, a 68-54 defeat against Purdue Poly Englewood on the 21st.
