Volleyball Recap: La Crosse Central Falls Short of Waunakee in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact La Crosse Central can now relate to. They came up short against the Waunakee Warriors on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Riverhawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in October of 2017.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-18.

Ellie Gillitzer paced La Crosse Central's offense, picking up ten kills. Gillitzer also shared the team's lead in assists with Addie Sazama-Nauman: they picked up ten each.

Leading Waunakee to victory were Kendall Scadden and Kaitlin Van Wie. Scadden had 12 digs, while Van Wie hit 50% for 20 kills and nine digs and three aces. Van Wie has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times she's played.

La Crosse Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Waunakee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 38-8 record this season.

La Crosse Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waunakee, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Onalaska on the 30th.
