Baseball Game Preview: Charles O. Dickerson Blue Raiders vs. Dryden Lions

The Charles O. Dickerson Blue Raiders will take on the Dryden Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Charles O. Dickerson has eight straight wins, Dryden has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Charles O. Dickerson's victory against Lansing wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Raiders won by a run and slipped past the Bobcats 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Raiders have posted since April 26, 2024.

Aidan Clarke-Cabezas made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine contests.

In other batting news, Owen Fulton and Ozzy Vogel-Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Fulton went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Vogel-Moore got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Duncan Gattine was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Dryden scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Whitney Point by a score of 8-6.

Charles O. Dickerson pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Dryden, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
