Baseball Game Preview: Campbell vs. Conant Orioles

Campbell will head out on the road to challenge the Conant Orioles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Campbell took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Stevens.

Jack Curtis and Braydon White made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Curtis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, White struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Curtis scored a run while going 3-for-3, while White scored a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Aidan Kepple and Brady Marcotte did most of the damage at the plate: Kepple went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Marcotte went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Reed, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Conant got themselves on the board against Hillsboro-Deering on Wednesday, but Hillsboro-Deering never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Hillcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Orioles.

Conant pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Campbell, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Campbell took their victory against Conant in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Campbell since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
