Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brennan). Everything went their way against the Stevens Falcons on Monday as the Brennan Bears made off with a 15-0 win. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.
Avery Leatherman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Mia Gutierrez-Castillo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Leatherman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Brennan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Brennan is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Brennan and bumps their season record up to 6-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Stevens, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-10.
Brennan and Stevens could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Brennan (ranked 263rd) will meet Taft (ranked 89th) at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Stevens will challenge O'Connor at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday down 564 places (623 vs. 59).
