Preview: James Madison Warhawks vs. Langley Saxons
The James Madison Warhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Langley Saxons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
James Madison couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. Their rough 56-31 loss to Gainesville on Saturday might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, Langley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They managed a 48-43 win over Broad Run. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Langley was the better team in the second half.
Langley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anya Rahman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Rahman has scored at least 25% of Langley's points. Bri Borcherding was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
James Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Langley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
James Madison was able to grind out a solid win over Langley in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 50-37. Does James Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Langley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
