Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Georgetown's Winning Streak

Georgetown fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Loris on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Maddie Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Harper Moore also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Georgetown lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loris didn't launched any home runs.

Georgetown's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Loris, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-5-1.

Coming up, Georgetown will face off against Aynor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Aynor's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Georgetown's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Loris, they will challenge Chardon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
