Basketball Recap: Highland's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Highland was the 60-56 winner over St. Pius X when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Highland Hornets fell to the St. Pius X Sartans 53-47. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Juan Limas, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Licon, who posted 16 points.

Even though they lost, Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Highland's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12. As for St. Pius X, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Belen the next time they take the court. St. Pius X will head out to face Belen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Highland will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
