Soccer Game Preview: Brookhaven Academy vs. Lamar

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars will square off against the Lamar Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Lamar will be coming in after a loss.

Brookhaven Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They beat Cathedral by a goal, winning 4-3. The high-scoring effort was just what Brookhaven Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Despite a strong season so far, Lamar has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Heritage Academy. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Lamar couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Blake Harris, who's now up to 22 this season.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Brookhaven Academy, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 16-7.

Brookhaven Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Lamar in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 3-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
