Softball Game Preview: Raymond Rams vs. Prospect Mountain Timberwolves

The Raymond Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Prospect Mountain Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Raymond took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Kearsarge by a score of 10-7.

Dinkenesh Levesque made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Levesque was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meadow-Miah Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sophie Huynh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Prospect Mountain came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Pioneers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Prospect Mountain pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Raymond, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Raymond might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Prospect Mountain in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
