Softball Recap: Malvern Takes a Loss

Malvern had lost ten straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-20 to make it 11. They came up short against the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Hornets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ashlyn Bush spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Malvern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Yost, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Strasburg-Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Strasburg-Franklin's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Karson Kramer gave up only one earned run on four hits. Kramer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sofia Secrest, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Addie Sundheimer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Strasburg-Franklin will challenge John Glenn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Malvern will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' game: after the Tigers face off against Garaway, they'll take on Malvern again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
