Basketball Game Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Pinecrest Patriots

Lee County hasn't had much luck against Pinecrest recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pinecrest Patriots at 7:30 p.m.

Lee County is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 63-43 loss courtesy of Apex Friendship.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pinecrest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by Providence 64-63. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Panthers are ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pinecrest's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Lee County took a serious blow against Pinecrest in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 79-52. Can Lee County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
