Basketball Recap: Wayland-Cohocton Victorious

There's no place like home for Wayland-Cohocton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 win over the Dansville Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-53 back in December of 2024.

Wayland-Cohocton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Fedorchuk, who went 8 for 13 en route to 22 points along with five boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Fedorchuk is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Orion Walker was another key player, going 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points.

Wayland-Cohocton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Dansville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayland-Cohocton will venture away from home to square off against Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dansville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Haverling at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
