The Villages Charter Buffalo will head out on the road to challenge the Hernando Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Villages Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
The Villages Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Palatka as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Buffalo have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Logan Godwin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Nolan English also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: The Villages Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palatka only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Hernando narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Marion 6-5.
Michael Saltsman looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Kaine Ellis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Eric O'Dell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
The Villages Charter's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Hernando, their record now sits at 16-13.
Hernando's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: The Villages Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. It's a different story for Hernando, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain The Villages Charter's hitters?
