Softball Game Preview: Grants Pass Cavemen vs. Willamette Wolverines

Grants Pass has gone a perfect 10-0 against Willamette recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Cavemen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grants Pass barely beat South Eugene the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cavemen were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Axe on Saturday. The Cavemen haven't had any issues with the Axe recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Willamette had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past South Eugene 15-5 on Tuesday. While the Wolverines didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Willamette's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for Grants Pass, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Grants Pass took their win against Willamette in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Cavemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
