American's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Washington Huskies as they made off with a 12-5 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Mya Anderson and Hudah Hassanin did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Hassanin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Hassanin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlynn Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

American was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

American's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Washington, they dropped their record down to 6-16 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, American will be playing at home against Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Washington, they will take on Irvington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
