Basketball Recap: Morgan Raiders vs. Philo Electrics
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Morgan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They slipped by the Philo Electrics 58-57. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their 26-point performance the match before.
Morgan was led to victory by Luke Coleman and Brylee Shannon. Coleman dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards, while Shannon went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Huck, who posted 11 points.
Philo's loss came despite strong showings from Rusty Trout and Talon Preston. Trout went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and three steals, while Preston went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points and four steals. That's the most steals Preston has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Camden Stoner, who had six points and nine boards.
With the win, Morgan broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3. As for Philo, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Morgan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-43 victory against Fort Frye on the 18th. Philo will take on River View in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Philo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
