Basketball Recap: Belleville East Piles Up the Points Against Sumner

On Saturday, the Belleville East Lancers blew past the Sumner Bulldogs, posting a 68-26 victory. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 57th in Illinois, while the Bulldogs are ranked 323rd in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belleville East is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40 points. As for Sumner, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Belleville East and Belleville West will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Belleville West has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Sumner, they will square off against Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
