Baseball Game Preview: Lake Region Thunder vs. Frostproof Bulldogs

The Lake Region Thunder will face off against the Frostproof Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Region is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Lake Region will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Bartow, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Everything went Lake Region's way against Bartow on Tuesday as Lake Region made off with a 7-1 win. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Dan Colon was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lake Region is 4-2 when Colon posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Calcutt, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Frostproof was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-5 to LaBelle, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Lake Region's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Frostproof, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Lake Region took their win against Frostproof in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6. Does Lake Region have another victory up their sleeve, or will Frostproof turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
