Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Blue Devils vs. Ballston Spa Scotties

The Columbia Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Ballston Spa Scotties at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Columbia's offense. They lost 9-0 to Shaker on Wednesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Ballston Spa came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Brothers by a score of 4-1.

Aiden Merrill tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, James Haughton was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nick Commisso, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Ballston Spa's record is now 13-2. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
