Baseball Recap: Stonington Sets Scoring Season-High Against Windham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stonington). They blew past the Windham Whippets 20-2 on Monday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Whippets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jace Wolfradt made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Finn Eck was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Jacob Schrage was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Stonington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Stonington pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Windham, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stonington will venture away from home to face off against Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Windham, they will head out to challenge Wheeler at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
