Preview: Antioch Sequoits vs. Wheaton Academy Warriors
Having just played yesterday, the Antioch Sequoits will jump right back in to play the Wheaton Academy Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Antioch is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Timothy Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Antioch proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Trojans with a 37-33 victory. The victory was just what Antioch needed coming off of a 62-32 loss in their prior contest.
Antioch found their leader in underclassman Heidi Rathmann, who scored 22 points. The contest was Rathmann's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Volkmar, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Walther Christian Academy, posting a 60-28 victory on the road. That 60-28 margin sets a new team best for Wheaton Academy this season.
Antioch has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Wheaton Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Antioch beat Wheaton Academy 37-30 in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Antioch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
