Cave Spring won against Christiansburg last Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Knights' way against the Hidden Valley Titans as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Caitlyn Karnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rachel Hartman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Eanes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Cave Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hidden Valley only posted a batting average of .120.
Cave Spring has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Hidden Valley, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Coming up, Cave Spring will challenge Lord Botetourt at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hidden Valley, they will head out to challenge Christiansburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
