Baseball Preview: Hingham Harbormen vs. Weymouth Wildcats

The Hingham Harbormen will head out on the road to face off against the Weymouth Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hingham had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshfield on Monday.

Meanwhile, Weymouth came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Brockton on Friday.

Matt Suplee was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Suplee was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Daley, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Johnny Pires, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hingham skirted past Weymouth 13-11 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hingham since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
