Softball Game Preview: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Oak Ridge Trojans

The Stagg Delta Kings will take on the Oak Ridge Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stagg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Stagg came out on top against Chavez on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Delta Kings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Titans 7-6. The Delta Kings haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Aerie Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Oak Ridge played against Destiny Christian Academy on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Stagg's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Ridge, they moved to 20-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Stagg suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Oak Ridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Delta Kings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
