Basketball Game Preview: Key West Conchs vs. Marathon Dolphins

Key West is 10-0 against Marathon since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Key West Conchs will take on the Marathon Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. Key West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Key West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-59 to Hallandale.

Key West might have lost, but man, Josue Thanus was a machine: he went 11 for 20 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Thanus a new career-high. David Aviles was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Key West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Marathon came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 55-51 W over the Knights.

Marathon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13. As for Key West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Key West against Marathon in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 68-24 win. In that match, Key West amassed a halftime lead of 47-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
