Softball Game Preview: Dexter Tigers vs. Bucksport Golden Bucks

The Dexter Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Bucksport Golden Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Dexter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 26 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Mattanawcook on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lynx, falling 9-1. The loss put an end to the Tigers' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Bucksport strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Foxcroft Academy get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. Fans of the Golden Bucks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Natalie Simpson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Bucksport let Lexi Raymond and Marina Keene run wild. Raymond went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Keene got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bucksport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Bucksport pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Dexter, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
