Recap: Mercy Jaguars vs. Greeneville Greene Devils
On Wednesday, Mercy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Greeneville, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win.
Greeneville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyla Jobe, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Jobe scored a full 32.7% of Greeneville's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anna Shaw, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Mercy's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Greeneville, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Mercy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cocke County at 1:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully Cocke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. Greeneville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bearden at 3:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Bearden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greeneville in Tennessee (Bearden is ranked 11th, while Greeneville is ranked 126th).
