Soccer Recap: Centralia Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mt. Vernon on Thursday, Centralia came back down to earth. The Orphans fell 2-0 to the Massac County Patriots on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Centralia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Massac County are ranked 166th).

Centralia has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Massac County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-2-2.

Looking ahead, Centralia will challenge Mascoutah at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Massac County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
