Softball Recap: Crowley Triumphs

While Crowley's victory against Westminster Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Crowley Gent had just enough and edged out the Westminster Christian Academy Chargers 3-2. While the Gent didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Zailey Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Crowley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Westminster Christian Academy now has a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crowley will head out to challenge Lake Charles College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
